Alright so here’s what I think about what’s going on in Egypt. I don’t really see what kind of an effect that it’s going to have. Protesting an oppressive regime is always a good thing I guess but let’s say they win or whatever and get what they want, the resignation of the Prime Minister, what is that really going to do in the long run? Honestly, I don’t think that it’s an entirely well thought-out idea and you would think that a protest with some chance of succeeding should do more than to strip the current brutal leader of a brutal state of his authority.
They are only going to get another prime minister and the exact same ship they were sailing that is still brutal and slave-making and everything else that it always has been. How the hell is that supposed to do anything good. Yeah, I get it, you want to be more free. In fact I think it takes balls to go up against a government that will more than happily execute people summarily and without a trial for defying it (any, not just in Egypt) and for that I kind of give them points for bravery but as far as long term planning this isn’t going to do anything.
In fact, what really think it does in enforce my view that the world media only really exists to further the agendas of the governments in charge. We’re living in a rating system and so the news that matters gets shuffled aside for pictures of some Egyptian kid getting beat with a stick. Sure you can say all you want about the noble struggle of these people but really there’s going to be no resolution to this that has any long term effect of the lives of the average citizen of Egypt whatsoever.
I’m sorry to let you all know that the only protest is an all out revolution to upend the state. The State’s the problem not the people running it. A bunch of guys who hid behind the authority that the state gave them only shows that the state and not the guys are the problem. What happens when the next group of tyrannical crazy people decides to stomp on some liberties of their own? Well they’ll shut down the internet of course. You silly bastards it’s amazing to me how much you armchair revolutionaries can be inspired by something that doesn’t and isn’t and will never mean a goddamned thing.
So I heard Obama talking about what he thought about what was going on in Egypt and let me tell you something. That is some crazy shit yo. I heard him praising the Egyptian people for their protests and blah blah blah and if the same protest would have happened here they would have locked all of those people away in secret prison with no trial and called them domestic terrorists. It amazes me how much the hearts and minds of out ADD culture can be won by flashing lights and sensational stories.
Great job everyone.
